Total Backflow Resources Certification Training

Classes are held Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm

Class size limited to first 15 registrants.

This course is based on American Backflow Prevention Association (ABPA) and University of Southern California (USC) guidelines and test procedures.

Completing this course and passing both the written and practical exams will certify you as a Backflow Assembly Tester. It will also provide you with eligibility for registration with the Iowa Backflow Tester Certification Program, and/or certify you as a Nebraska Grade XI Water Operator.

Testing equipment will be available; however, if you have your own equipment, please bring it with you.

Re-Certification Class Agenda

Backflow Technician Re-Certification & Continuing Education

If you are already a certified backflow tester, you may register for a one-day review. This will satisfy your requirement of 5 hours of continuing education for renewal.

One-day Recertification Schedule*

  • 7:45 AM Registration
  • 8:00 - 10:00 AM Lecture & Discussion
  • 10:00 AM - Noon Lab
  • 12:00 - 12:30 PM Lunch - (On your Own)
  • 12:30 - 2:00 PM - Noon Lab
  • 2:00 - 2:15 PM Closing / CEU's)
  • *Times may differ for some classes. Please check specific class details.
    Diagnostics and device repair and personal tools needed. Course includes repair manuals and guides.

    This lecture portion of this class will cover:

      System hydraulics and the effect of a backflow prevention assembly (water hammer, thermal expansion, and pressure fluctuations)
      Advanced trouble-shooting techniques
      Review USC test procedures

    The Lab portion of this class demonstrates:

      Field checking the calibration of test kits
      USC field test procedures on the RPZ, DC and PVB
      Hands on practice with working assemblies and simulated failures

    Testing equipment will be available; however, if you have your own equipment, please bring it with you.
